Hamilton Jet

All marine propulsion systems are designed to push the water in one direction to attain the thrust force in the opposite direction. While propellers have pitched blades to push the water, Hamilton-jets utilize a specially designed impeller and stator. The intake duct direct the water to the impeller and creates a high pressure water flow which shoots out aft of the vessel at very high velocity. While this provides the trust for the vessel, Hamilton water jets use this jet stream to maneuver the vessel by guiding the jet stream through their unique  steering nozzle to port or starboard. This system is highly effective and is capable of attaining speeds as high as 55 knots. Hamilton water-jets are utilized in many applications such as passenger ferries, naval vessels, super yachts fishing vessels and rescue vessels.

Advantages of Hamilton water jet.

Simplicity is key.

There are very few moving parts in the water jet, and the fewer the parts the less likely for something to go wrong. Maintenance therefore is at a minimum and simple to do.

Less drag.

There are no protrusions from the hull thus minimizing the drag, which intern gives the high speeds. This also means that the vessel can operate in shallower waters.

No need for a marine gear box.

Water jets have a deflector to change the direction of water so that you can reverse. Therefore, you would not be needing a bulky heavy gear box, saving weight and space onboard.

Safe as it can be.

The impeller is encased and inboard, thus no exposed moving parts for people in the water or marine life.

Crash stops are fast and effective. Ahead/Astern Deflector drops down to reverse the flow of water while the engine RPM’s stay at maximum position.

Maximum engine life.

Engine load is constant at low and high speeds therefore no possibility for engine overload.

Easier to match.

Water jets are easier to predict than most propulsion systems therefore we can accurately predict the best water-jet for your application.

Easy Maneuverability.

Precise steering control at all boat speeds

“Zero Speed” steering effect provides 360° thrusting ability for docking and holding stationary.

Sideways movement possible with multiple jet installations.

High efficiency astern thrust with “power-braking” ability at speed.
